5 Ways to Take Leftover Pizza to the Next Level

Wondering what to do with leftover pizza? P.Za Kitchen’s Roman style pizzas serve one or two people, so chances are the only leftovers you’ll have are crumbs. But, in the unlikely event you find yourself with leftovers, we have some ideas on how to take your leftover pizza delivery to the next level.

It can be as simple as making it a classic Italian pizza by adding some fresh tomatoes, crushed oregano and mozzarella cheese. Or, you can get really creative with your toppings!

It’s important to properly reheat Roman style pizza to take leftovers to the next level. Our chef’s recommend staying away from the microwave. Instead, place an upside down baking sheet or cookie sheet in your oven and preheat to 350F.

Once oven is preheated, here’s the pro tip: spray or brush the hot baking sheet with olive oil. Add desired toppings to your leftover pizza, carefully place on the hot baking sheet and return to the oven. Time varies based on your oven and the level of crispness you want. A good rule of thumb is to reheat until cheese is melted, about 4-5 minutes.

1. Make a Breakfast Pizza

Skip the “cold pizza for breakfast” routine and instead top your Roman style pizza with a poached or fried egg. Breakfast is all about bacon and eggs so P.Za Kitchen’s Amatriciana bacon pizza topped with meaty smoked bacon, white onion, Grana Parmesan, mozzarella, and provolone serves as the perfect base for a breakfast pizza. If you prefer sausage over bacon, try P.Za Kitchen’s Sausage Bianca with an egg on top. Reheating your pizza for breakfast has never sounded better! Serve it with a mimosa or Bloody Mary and this pizza is ready for brunch. It’s so good we won’t judge if you order an extra pizza just so you can make a breakfast pizza the next morning!

2. Make a Pizza Supreme

Sometimes you want to load up your pizza with lots of meats and veggies. P.Za Kitchen’s Roman Style pizzas are great without any add ons and although we believe in striking the proper balance of toppings, it doesn’t mean you can’t go a bit crazy with the toppings. Start with a classic P.Za Kitchen Formaggio cheese pizza topped with Parmesan, mozzarella and provolone and top with veggies like sweet peppers, broccoli, artichoke, tomatoes and roasted corn. Add pepperoni, ham or sausage or even grilled steak to P.Za Kitchen’s Sicilian pizza with fresh herbs, black olives, capers, roasted garlic, Grana Parmesan, and Mozzarella for an over the top supreme experience.

3. Make a Gourmet Pizza!

Take your leftover pizza to the next level with gourmet toppings. Try figs and goat cheese atop our Funghi alla Fontina mushroom pizza and it becomes a fancy appetizer. How about prosciutto, red onions, arugula and fresh basil on our Italian Deluxe? If you’re a veggie lover, add roasted eggplant, caramelized onions, sweet peppers, Swiss chard, and zucchini with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil to P.Za Kitchen’s Bruschetta Rustica pizza. Practically anything you find in the farmers market can transform your vegetarian pizza.

4. Make the Cheesiest Pizza!

Sometimes all you need is to add more cheese! Get creative with your cheese selection. Try shredded mozzarella, fresh shaved Parmesan or Pecorino Romano to our Formaggio for a Cheese Lovers Delight. Feta cheese sprinkled with crushed oregano and extra virgin olive oil takes Bruschetta Rustica over the top. You can even go crazy by sandwiching a burger patty topped with blue cheese using two slices of Amatriciana bacon pizza as “buns.” Now that’s Next Level!

5. Make Pizza Croutons

Take your tomato soup or big salad to the next level with croutons made with P.Za Kitchen Pepperoni pizza or Sicilian pizza loaded with fresh herbs, black olives and capers to keep it vegetarian friendly.

Here’s how you make pizza croutons: P.Za Kitchen Roman Style pizza slices are already square so it’s easy to stack two slices on top of each other with the toppings side facing in. Using a serrated bread knife, cut 1-inch wide strips. Then, cut strips crosswise into small squares. Sautee pizza squares in a heated large nonstick pan with a bit of olive oil and cook until cheese begins to melt. About 2-3 minutes per side. Transfer to paper towel to drain. Get ready to enjoy the best croutons you’ve ever tasted!

P.Za Kitchen specializes in Roman style pizza. With its square shape and crispy and airy crust, you can pile on the toppings and reheat for great taste the second day. You may want to order an extra pizza just to get creative with your leftovers.
